roots blower is a type of positive displacement pump used to move air or gas by trapping a certain volume of it and forcing it from the inlet to the outlet. It’s named after its inventors, the Roots brothers, and operates on a simple principle: two rotating lobes, or rotors, turn in opposite directions inside a casing. These lobes don’t touch each other or the casing but form small pockets of air or gas that are pushed from the inlet to the outlet as they rotate.
